2 die in road crashes
Two people died in road accidents in Khilkhet and Rupnagar areas of the capital yesterday morning.
The deceased are Abdul Khaleq, 45, driver of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and Akter Hossain, 32, a pick-up van driver.
Khilkhet police said a covered van hit a standing CNG-run auto-rickshaw from behind beside the road at Khilkhet bus stand, killing the auto-rickshaw driver.
Locals rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he succumbed to his injures.
Aktar, a pick-up van driver, was killed when a tuck rammed his vehicle from the opposite direction at Birulia embankment of Rupnagar.
He died at the DMCH at about 1:00pm on arrival.
