Tiger kills honey collector
A honey collector was killed by tiger in the Subdi-Gubdi canal area in the Sundarbans yesterday.
The victim was identified as Shahbaz Gain, 45, son of Md Samali Gain of village Baro Bhetkhali in Shyamnagar upazila.
According to the forest officials, nine people including Shahbaz went to the Sundarbans taking pass from Kadamtala forest office to collect honey on Sunday last.
While they were looking for honey in the Subdi-Gubdi canal area in the Sundarbans, a tiger swooped on Shahbaz and dragged him into the deep forest at about 8:00 in the morning.
Forest guards with the help of other honey collectors later recovered the body at about 2 pm.
