8 Jamaat men held
Police arrested eight leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami on charge of subversive activities in Birampur upazila yesterday.
The arrestees are Anisur Rahman, 55, vice president of district Jamaat unit, Enamul Haque, 50, upazila unit Ameer, upazila unit secretary Tajul Islam, 53, Abdul Mannan, 55, Hafizur Rahman, 52, Shamsul Alam, 50, Abdul Hye, 50 and Borhan Islam, 50.
The law enforcers arrested the eight while they were holding a secret meeting, said officer in-charge of Birampur police station.
