Two shot by muggers in capital
A gang of muggers shot two people at Salimullah Road of Mohammadpur in the capital yesterday.
Injured Matiur Rahman, 35, supervisor of a construction firm and Rafiqul Islam, 40, vegetable trader, were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Matiur's brother-in-law Habib Ahmed said he (Matiur) was talking to his wife Kulsum Begum in front of his house at about 1:00am.
Riding in a car, the gang came to the spot and asked them to give their belongings. One of them hit Kulsum on her back as she was delaying to give her gold chain.
Matiur caught one mugger and cried for help. His neighbour Rafiq came out and the miscreants got into the car and shot about four or five rounds of bullets, leaving them injured.
