Govt to implement CHT accord fully
Says environment minister
Environment and Forests Minister Hasan Mahmud yesterday said the government is working for full implementation of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) peace accord.
He said this while addressing as the chief guest a meeting on the Chitmaram Buddhist Temple premises at Kaptai upazila in Chittagong on the occasion of Sanggrai Water Festival of the Marma community.
Alongside the implementation of the peace pact, the government has undertaken some projects under the Ministry of Environment and Forests for improving the living standard of the CHT people, he said.
After implementation of these projects, the fate of the people in this region would be changed, he added.
Mahmud said the government is also working for ensuring the peaceful coexistence of the people of all religious communities in the country.
Kaptai upazila Chairman Angsuichhain Chowdhury and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Nuruzzaman also spoke at the meeting with Tangchhai Marma in the chair.
