Criminals kill doc

Criminals killed a doctor of Badalgachhi upazila health complex in Potnitola upazila of Naogaon district on Tuesday night. The victim, Kartik Chandra Basak, 38, was a resident medical officer (RMO) of the health complex. Police said Dr Kartik Basak, son of Loknath Basak of Basakpur village in Badalgachhi upazila, went to Porsha upazila headquarters to visit a patient at Alpha Clinic on Tuesday afternoon. A gang of criminals waylaid Kartik at Gourandighi area while he was returning to Badalgachhi from Porsha, by a motorbike at around 8:00pm. The criminals killed Kartik and took away his bike, cellphone and money bag, they added. Locals found the body on Amaidighi-Porsha road in Gorandighi area in the morning and informed the police, who rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Noagoan Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Kartik's brother Subroto Basak filed a murder case with Potnitola police station on Wednesday. Contacted, Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station, said they were trying to unearth clues to the murder and arrest the persons involved.
