Man sentenced to death for infanticide
A court here on Tuesday sentenced a man to death for killing a baby boy in 2010.
The convict was identified as Mohammad Hossain, of Borkoit village in Chandina upazila.
According to the prosecution, Mohammad Hossain, identifying himself as mendicant, went to the house of Abdul Jabbar at Bhanti village in neighbouring Burichong upazila.
He made all the members of the house unconscious by feeding them toxic food tactfully on September 1, 2010. Later, he looted gold ornaments, money in cash and other valuables from the house.
While fleeing with the booties he strangled 13-day-old Tasin, grandson of Abdul Jabbar as he was crying at that time and later dumped the body into the nearby pond.
