Illegal lottery in Sylhet

A group of people have been selling tickets of an 'unauthorised' lottery at suburban markets in the city for the last three days as the law enforcers and administration turn a blind eye to it. Several groups, using pick-up vans and push carts, were seen selling the tickets at Tk 20 each in front of the deputy commissioner's office, court mosque point, near Hasan Market, in front of Karimullah Market at Shibganj Bazar, Kodomtoli point, Surma Market point in Ambarkhana area and at Rekabi Bazar. Using the names of social organisations like Joy Bangla Sangskritik Oikya Jote of Ghashitola and Provati Jubo Forum of Masimpur they are doing brisk business in many areas, alleged locals. Contacted, police commissioner AB Barua said none came to file any complaint in this regard.
