Around 700 students of three educational institutions of Chittagong city yesterday tested their depths of knowledge on Chittagong's history, tradition and heritage. As an extension of The Daily Star's 12-day “Odommo Chattagram” festival, which ended on Tuesday, Sunshine Grammar School organised two competitions, one on a quiz and the other on writing on a set idea, at its premises. Twenty five young minds were adjudged winners after the competitions, where students of the school and of Chittagong Sunshine School and Chittagong Sunshine College competed head-to-head. In the quiz, the students sat to answer 20 questions on the history, tradition and heritage of Chittagong. In the idea contest, school students wrote on the theme “Indomitable Chittagong” while college students wrote on “Chittagong after 20 years”. The Daily Star Bureau Chief, Chittagong Raisul Huq Bahar, who gave away the prizes among the winners, said it is not the end for the festival but the beginning. He urged all aspiring minds to learn and discover Chittagong's opulent heritage. Terming the “Odommo Chattagram” festival as a noble initiative, Sunshine Grammar School Principal Safia Gaji Rahman said, “The competition aimed at improving the knowledge of the young learners on Chittagong's roots.” Dristi President Masud Bakul and The Daily Star Deputy Manager (Accounts) Alim Al Rabbi were present.
