Tragic deaths of two kids
A two-year-old boy met a tragic death in Lalmonirhat while a schoolgirl drowned in river in Magura on Sunday.
Mahfuz Islam, 2, was crushed under the wheels of a tractor driven by his elder brother at Uttorpara village under Bhadai union in Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat on Sunday noon, reports our correspondent.
Police said, Shukur Ali's elder son Habibur Rahman, 14, was driving tractor to plough a piece of land beside their homestead. Habib's two-year-old brother Mahfuz went to the land for playing. All of a sudden Mahfuz ran towards the tractor and Habib lost control over the steering. Ranover by the tractor, the hapless boy died on the spot.
In Magura, a schoolgirl drowned in Nabaganga River in the town while taking bath along with her friends on Sunday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Sadia Khatun, 14, daughter of Badshah Mia of Parnanduali village in Sadar upazila.
Locals said, Sadia went to the river along with her friends at about 12 noon for bathing. At one stage, she slipped into deep water and drowned as she did not know how to swim.
On information, divers from Khulna fire station rushed to the spot and after a hectic search recovered the body.
