Deal to strengthen JS bodies

Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat yesterday signed an agreement with a consulting firm Oxford Policy Management (OPM) Limited for strengthening three parliamentary standing committees relating to the government's financial management. The three parliamentary watchdogs are committee on public accounts, estimate and public undertakings. Parliament Secretariat acting Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman and the OPM Country Director Ashequr Rahamn signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides at the Parliament Secretariat, said an official release. According to the deal, the UK-based consulting firm will help strengthen different activities of the three standing committees under the project 'Strengthening Parliamentary Oversight' (SPO) aided by Multi-Donor Trust Fund. Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, Public Undertakings Committee Chairman ABM Golam Mostafa , SK Abu Bakar, MP, Additional Secretary to Parliament Secretariat Syed Ahmed and Project Director and Joint Secretary ASM Mahbubul Alam were also present at the agreement signing ceremony.
