Lightning kills five in three districts
Lightning killed five people in Kishoreganj, Dinajpur and Sylhetdistricts yesterday.
A young school teacher and a teenage boy were killed in separate incidents of lightning in Itna upazila of Kishoreganj yesterday, reports our correspondent.
The deceased were identified as Al Amin, 21, a teacher at Silni Government Primary School and son of Jamshed Ali alias Master Mia of Silni village under Elangjuri union in Itna upazila and Shiblu Das, 15, son of Babul Das of Thakurhati village under Dhanpur union in the same upazila.
Witnesses said, Al Amin was struck by lightning at around 11:00am when he went to a nearby field for bringing cattle home amid rain. Shiblu Das was killed at around 11:30am while he was playing football at a field near his house during rain.
In Dinajpur, lightning killed a housewife in Parbatipur upazila early yesterday.
The victim was identified as Aktara Begum, 26, wife of Md. Shafiqul Islam of Purba Shukhdevpur (Ghasipara) village, reports our correspondent.
According to the family members of the victim, Aktara was struck by lightening when she was returning from their cowshed during heavy rain at around 4.00am and died on the spot.
In Sylhet two labourers at Bholaganj stone quarry in Companiganj upazila were killed by lightning yesterday afternoon.
Besides, an injured was admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital while six other were given first aid at upazila health copmplex.
The deceased were identified as Kulsum Begum, 40, of Lakshmipur village in Khaliajuri upazila of Netrokona and Amir Hossain, 45 of Boroikandi under Austagram upazila in Kishoreganj district.
