Uninterrupted power demanded
Hundreds of farmers yesterday formed a human chain on their fields at Zeol Chandpur village in Tanore demanding uninterrupted power supply, good selling price of paddy and reasonable prices of fertilisers and pesticides.
They threatened to leave the farming profession and rush to the cities for finding other jobs unless the government responds to their demands.
Under the banner of Tanore Krishak Culture Academy, the farmers stayed on their field for one and a half hours.
They said the government was not keeping promise to provide continuous power supply during this Boro season.
Although cost of farming had increased, farmers did not get fair selling prices for their produces, they alleged.
