Death anniversary
Today is the 41st death anniversary of martyred physicians Prof Dr Shamsuddin Ahmed and Dr Shaymol Kanti Lala, says a press release. Dr Shamsuddin Ahmed, professor of surgery department of the then Sylhet Medical College Hospital, and his associate Dr Shaymol Kanti Lala lost their lives on April 9, 1971, as the Pakistani occupation forces entered the hospital and took unarmed on-duty staff of the hospital, including them, in front of Sylhet Women's College and opened fire on them.
