Mobile court rescues 550 guest birds, jails man
A mobile court sentenced a man to one-month imprisonment for illegally catching and selling guest birds at Godagari upazila yesterday.
It also released 550 guest birds, caught by him, in the open air.
The convict Ansar Ali, 40, of Rajibpur in Natore, was caught while selling the birds at Bijoynagar in the upazila.
The mobile court, led by executive magistrate Alamgir Kabir, found him guilty under the Wildlife Preservation Act of 1974. Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) assisted the court.
Ansar was sent to Rajshahi Central Jail to suffer the term.
