'Chirayato Chattagram Prodarshani' ends
The seven-day “Chirayato Chattagram Prodarshani' (Eternal Chittagong Exhibition), held as part of The Daily Star's “Odommo Chattagram” (Indomitable Chittagong) festival, concluded at Chittagong MA Aziz Gymnasium yesterday.
The exhibition brought forth different historical periods -- prehistoric, pre-medieval Harikela, Sultanate's Chatigram-Chatigaon, from Mughal Chatgaon to Islamabad and Colonial Chittagong.
A total 77 photographs, an artwork depicting the lifestyle of the people of Chittagong in pre-historic period, a model of a Mughal tomb and a painting on Karnaphuli battle of 1666 between Mughals and Arakans were on display.
There was also a map on the communication system in Chittagong in the Sultanate and Mughal periods.
Of the photographs, 18 were of various types of copper plates, vases and coins of Harikela periods and 14 depicted colonial structures including the Central Railway Building, Mirzar Dighi, Chittagong Court Building, Darul Adalat, Chittagong General Hospital and a factory and a warehouse.
Moreover, there were 20 pictures of tombs and mosques of the Sultanate era including the gateway to the tomb of Badr Auliya, the arch of Mihrab found in the ruins of Chuti Khan Masjid, “dochala” gateway to the entrance into the “shaan” of Hammadyar Masjid, recently renovated interiors of the Fakirer Masjid and Buddha postures of Abhaya Mudra.
The last 25 pictures were of mosques, tombs and ruins of Mughal structures including gateway of Haji Masjid, Kadam Mubarak Masjid, the tomb of Mullah Miskin, Shahjahani tomb, Wali Khan's Mosque, Posterpar Masjid, Bagh Hamza Tomb and ruins at Rangmahal Hill.
