Palli Bidyut DGM caught while taking bribe
The deputy general manager of Raozan Palli Bidyut Samity, Md Salim Uddin, was caught red handed while taking Tk 10,000 as bribe from a private telecom company on Wednesday. During the arrest, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)-7 members, Raozan Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md Chahel Tastari and Anti-Corruption Commission Chittagong-2 Regional Deputy Assistant Director Khalilur Rahman Shikdar were present. Hours later at a press conference, Major Raqibul Amin of Rab-7 said the company had earlier informed them that Salim demanded Tk 30,000 as bribe to provide electricity connections to three network towers in Raozan. Just as the company's representatives handed Tk 10,000 to Salim at his office at around 7:00pm, Rab members, Md Chahel and Khalilur Rahman entered the room and the accused confessed his crime, he said. A case was filed with Raozan Police Station in this connection, said Officer-in-Charge Nurul Amin of Raozan Police Station.
