9 killed in road accidents
Nine people were killed and 12 others injured in separate road accidents in the country on Tuesday and yesterday.
Our correspondent from Jhenidah adds: Two people were killed and seven others injured when a truck hit a three-wheeler at Holidhani bazar in Sadar upazila on Tuesday.
Arif Hossain, 22, son of Abdul Khalek of Badpukuria village, died on the spot while Kamrul Hossain, 9, son of Abul Hossain of Narayanpur, died at Sadar hospital at 7:30pm.
Our Benapole correspondent adds: A school student was killed as a truck hit him at Talsari in Benapole port yesterday morning.
Jeem Sardar, 6, son of Babu Sarder of Bhoberber village at Benapole, died instantly.
Our correspondent from Patuakhali reports: A female street beggar was killed as a microbus hit her while begging beside the road at Earuddin Khalifa majar premises in Mirzaganj upazila yesterday morning.
Doctors pronounced Gulbanu, 55, of East Subidkhali village of the upazila, dead at Mirzaganj upazila health complex.
Our Madaripur correspondent adds: A freedom fighter died instantly when he fell onto the road while trying to get on a bus near Kawrakandi ferry ghat yesterday.
The victim is Aziz Gazi, 70, a freedom fighter of Bamna upazila of Barguna district.
Our Satkhira correspondent reports: A man was killed when a bus hit his bike at Baukhola in Tala upazila yesterday.
Akbar Ali Khan, 40, of of Rupdia village of Jessore, died on the spot.
Our correspondent from Rangpur adds: A tractor driver and a rickshaw passenger were killed and five others people injured while the tractor overturned on the road and hit the rickshaw van at Ramkrishnapur village in Sadar upazila at 1:00am yesterday.
Aliza Begum, 60, passenger of the rickshaw van of Kartihara village of the upazila and Milon Mian, 33, the tractor driver and son of Aziz Mandal of Baliyaghat village at Baderganj upazila, died on the spot.
Police seized the tractor.
Our correspondent from Jamalpur adds: A college teacher was killed as a speeding truck hit a rickshaw van carrying the victim and her child on Sharishabari Tarakandi road near Jamuna Fertilizer Company Limited (JFCL) yesterday morning.
Ferdousi Khatun, 37, a lecturer of Pugoldigha College of the upazila, died on the way to Dhaka Square Hospital.
