Rapist held
A teenager raped a three-year old girl in Meherchandi Moddhyapara area of the city on Friday.
The 18-year old Mohammad Sabuj, son of Ajibor Rahman of the area, confessed to the rape before a magistrate's court yesterday.
Earlier in the morning, locals gave him a good beating and handed him over to the police.
The victim's mother filed a case with Boalia Police Station yesterday alleging that Sabuj, a welding shop worker, took her daughter to his house when she was playing in front of her house at around 11:00am on Friday. At the time, the victim's parents were not at home.
Her mother, a domestic help, was at her workplace and her father, a garment worker, lives in Dhaka.
Returning home in the evening, the girl's mother learnt of the incident and complained to Sabuj's father. She informed local people when Sabuj's father misbehaved with her instead of taking action.
