Hearing on charges against Koko deferred again

Court Correspondent
A Dhaka court yesterday adjourned till May 31 the hearing on charge framing against Arafat Rahman Koko, younger son of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, in a tax evasion case. With this, the court has deferred the hearing 19 times on the ground that Koko's lawyer could not bring any order on a rule the High Court (HC) issued earlier upon a writ petition challenging the legality of the case. Judge (in charge) Mohammad Akhteruzzaman of the Senior Special Judge's Court passed the order after Koko's counsel Taherul Islam Tawhid submitted a petition seeking adjournment of the hearing. The court also warned against further extension prayers and asked the lawyer to submit the HC order by May 31, in the absence of which, charge will be framed against his client.
