Ruta polls today
Election of the 15-member executive committee of Rajshahi University Teachers Association (Ruta) will be held today.
Administration sources said pro-Awami League teachers, including RU Progressive Teachers Society (PTS), will contest under yellow panel and pro-BNP-Jamaat alliance will contest under white panel in the polls.
Besides, a faction of the BNP teachers will compete under golden panel.
Yellow panel candidates for the posts of president and general secretary are Dr Muazzem Hossain Khan of economics department and Dr Munshi Munzurul Haque of Islamic history and culture department.
Dr Shamsul Alam Sarkar of applied mathematics department and M Sayedur Rahman of statistics department will compete for the posts of president and general secretary from white panel while Dr Saidul Islam of chemistry department and Dr Yunus Ahmed Khan of geology and mining department will vie for the posts from golden panel.
