Six killed in road accidents
Six people were killed and eight others, including two police personnel, injured in separate road accidents in Sylhet, Chittagong, Jhenidah and Natore on Monday and yesterday.
Our Sylhet Correspondent reports: Four persons were killed and six others received injuries in a truck-tempo collision on Habiganj-Shaistaganj road in Habiganj on Monday night.
The three among the deceased, identified as Sazal Ahmed, 45, Nibaran Paul, 30 and Haider Ali, 60, died on the spot while another, who could not be identified, succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital, said police.
All the deceased were the passengers of the tempo.
Among the injured, two were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and two to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
The drivers managed to flee the scene.
Our Chittagong Correspondent reports: A steel mill worker was killed in a road crash in Shershah colony area of the port city yesterday morning.
A speeding oil-carrying covered van hit Borhan Uddin, 26, in front of Fakirpara mosque near Shershah colony at around 6:30am while he was crossing Oxygen-Bayezid road, leaving him critically injured, said police.
The van driver Hafiz Uddin stopped the vehicle and took him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where duty doctors declared him dead.
Borhan, son of Mohammed Rafiq, was resident of Battali area under Bayezid Police Station.
Jhenidah Correspondent adds: A bank official was killed in a road accident at Arappur bus stand of Jhenidah district town early yesterday.
A speeding truck ran over Abdul Lotif, 60, an official in Jhenidah branch of Pubali Bank Limited, while he was crossing Jhenidah-Kushtia high way, leaving him critically injured on Monday night at around 8:00pm.
Locals rushed him to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital, where he succumbed to his injures at around 1:00am, said police.
Our Natore Correspondent adds: Two police personnel were injured while a three-wheeler hit their motorcycle in Patul Hapania area under Natore Sadar upazila yesterday.
The injured are Abu Taher, sub-inspector of Naldanga Police Station, and Constable Abdul Malek.
They were rushed to Natore Sadar Hospital.
