Rajshahi bus strike called off
Bus owners called off the indefinite strike yesterday following a meeting with the city Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton.
Manjur Rahman Pitar, general secretary of Rajshahi Sarak Paribahan Group, said the mayor assured them of fulfilling their demands and some of them have already been met.
The group enforced the strike on Sunday as locals in Bhadra area in the city torched a bus and damaged another during a clash with bus labourers on February 23.
Meanwhile, police arrested four people identified as Baroi Miah, 55, Mohammad Ripon, 20, Wasim, 21, and Rejwan Hossain, 20, following the incident.
After a day-long sufferings, bus services from Rajshahi resumed from 7:00pm.
