Stop pressing investigators

Prof Mizan urges journo leaders

National Human Rights Commission Chairman Prof Mizanur Rahman yesterday urged the leaders of journalists' associations to have patience and not pressurize investigators probing the murder of the journalist couple, Sagar-Runi. “I think the investigators might have a clue. They are not willing to catch anyone without being certain as the issue is very sensitive,” he said, adding that putting pressure on the investigators “might not bring any good for us”. Pressing the investigators might provide another scope for the “Joj Miah drama” Mizanur told newsmen before Jatiya Press Club in the city after attending a programme of Khelaghar Aashor, a children's organisation. The journalist community is split centring the probe, each trying to describe the cause behind the killings according to their own observations, he added. Sagar Sarowar, a news editor at the private TV channel Maasranga, and his wife Meherun Runi, a senior reporter for ATN Bangla, were killed in the early hours of February 11 at their West Rajabazar residence. Investigators are yet to make any headway in this regard.
