10 students injured as outsiders swoop on them in Jessore
Ten students were injured as they clashed with outsiders at a college in Bagharpara upazila yesterday.
Police quoting Nazmul Huda, principal of Raipur School and College said, a few days ago, a teacher of the school was suspended.
Students of the school went to the principal to submit their written statement containing their views on the teacher and allegation against two members of the school's governing body.
The clash broke out when supporters of Billal, a supporter of the school's governing body and also Raipur union Awami League unit general secretary, equipped with lethal weapons, swooped on the students, leaving 10 of them injured.
The injured were admitted to local hospital. Among them a student was shifted to Jessore Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
Outraged at the incident, the students of the college later vandalised Billal's house.
Apprehending further clashes, school authorities closed the school for two days.
Additional police have been deployed in the area.
