Teachers sued on charge of torturing student

Two teachers and a staff of Benapole High School have been sued on charge of torturing a student. The hapless boy was identified as Ramjan Ali of class X. Victim's father Bablu Bepari filed a case with Bagerhat Port police station on Saturday accusing the headmaster Shaukat Ali, assistant teacher Habibur Rahman and M Raihan, office assistant of the school. According to the case statement, the seat cover of a bus hired for picnic of the school students in Bagerhat on February 15 went missing. Following the incident, the trio allegedly beat up Ramjan mercilessly, leaving him injured seriously. He was admitted to hospital. The school managing committee formed a four-member probe committee and asked it to submit the report within five days. Ohaduzzaman, education officer of Sharsha upazila, served a show cause notice on the accused. Terming the incident a barbaric act, upazila nirbahi officer Kamrul Arif said that punitive action would be taken against the people responsible for it. Meanwhile, the Education Ministry on Monday suspended the trio.
