Robbers stabbed six bus passengers in Jessore yesterday and killed a man in Barguna on Monday.
Our correspondent in Benapole reported that highway robbers stabbed seven people of a bus and looted valuable in Jessore Sadar upazila early yesterday.
A gang of eight put up barricade at Khajura point of Jessore-Magura Road and intercepted a Satkhira-bound night coach of Saudia Paribahan around 5:00am.
The armed robbers looted cash, gold ornaments, cell phone sets and other valuables from the passengers.
They stabbed six passengers and a supervisor of the bus as they tried to resist them.
The injured passengers were admitted to Jessore Medical College Hospital. Condition of bus supervisor Naim Hossain was stated to be critical.
In Barguna, a BNP leader was killed by a gang of robbers on Monday night at a remote village under Betagi upazila in Barguna district, reports our Patuakhali correspondent.
The victim was identified as Ashraf Ali Biswas, 70, of Joarkaruna village, also secretary of ward 6 of Mokamia union unit BNP.
Md Nurul Haque, OC of Betagi police station said, the gang entered the house by removing earth of the mud wall and started to beat up Ashraf with sticks. Later the robbers pointed a pistol at Ashraf causing his death on the spot.
A case was filed with the police station on Tuesday in this regard, the OC said.
