UNO office besieged demanding UP election
People of Bangra union in Kalihati upazila besieged the office of upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) yesterday, demanding early union parishad (UP) election.
About one thousand people of the union kept the UNO confined to his office from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
Earlier, led by former UP chairman Hasmat Ali, they came to the office in a procession and submitted a memorandum to the UNO.
They withdrew the programme after the UNO assured them of holding the election on completion of legal procedure.
The last UP election of Bangra union was held around 10 years ago.
