A 'regional leader' of outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-ML) was beaten to death by a mob in Santhia upazila of Pabna yesterday. Robiul Hassan, officer in-charge of Ataikula Police Station, said a gang of outlaws led by their regional leader Anowar Hossain swooped on the house of one Fakhrul Islam at Gulbaria village around 3:00am following a previous enmity. Hearing shouts of the family members, Fakrul's neighbours rushed to the spot and captured Anowar after a chase. They gave Anowar a good beating leaving him critically injured. Meanwhile, Anowar's cohorts exploded two hand bombs to flee the scene after being chased by the villagers, injuring Fakrul and his sister-in-law Azimon Khatun. The injured were admitted to Pabna Medical College Hospital where Anowar, 30, succumbed to his injuries.
