Two rescued, 5 alleged abductors arrested

Police rescued two abducted men in Rangpur and Jhenidah and arrested five people in this connection on Saturday. In Rangpur, police rescued a youth and arrested three men on charge of abduction on Saturday. The arrestees are Shahin, 30, son of Abdus Samad of Senpara in Rangpur town, Amjad, 29, son of late Jamir Uddin and Titu, 38, son of Chamchul Haque of the same area, reports our correspondent. Altaf Hossain, officer in-charge of Kotwali police station said, the aforesaid three on Thursday morning demanded Tk. 10,000 as toll from Shamchul Islam, 45, of Senpara area. As Shamchul Islam refuted to give the money, they abducted his son Sirajul Islam, 27, and confined him to a house in Senpara area. A police team led by Altaf Hossain later raided the house and rescued Sirajul. Police also arrested the three accused from the house. In Jhenidah, two people were arrested on Saturday on charge of abducting a man from Kumarkhali in Kushtia, reports our correspondent. The arrestees are Fakir Ali, son of Abed Ali of Kushtipara village under Jhenaigati upazila in Sherpur district and Mohammad Ali, son of Idris Ali of Gobindopur village under Shailkupa upazila in Jhenidah. Sources said, victim Abdur Razzak a few days ago got introduced with the accused over mobile. Later they became very friendly. On Thursday last, Fakir and Mohammad went to Razzak's house and proposed to go for a walk. But at night they confined Razzak to a place and demanded Tk one lakh as ransom from his family. After a bargaining, the two came to Kabirpur bus stand under Shailkupa upazila town to collect Tk 40,000 from the victim's brother. On information, police went to the bus stand and arrested the two alleged abductors. On their confessional statement, they launched another drive at Bakur Ali's house near Bhatoi bazar under Shailkupa upazila and rescued Razzak.
