Charges pressed against 10 in Milon Sheikh murder case

Police pressed charges against 10 people in college student Milon Sheikh murder case on Thursday afternoon. Milon Sheikh of Tootpara was murdered on the night of May 4, 2011. The 10 accused are Sakibur Rahman Jitu, Anwarul Islam, Abir Hossain Sheikh, Asad Howlader, Dr. Abdul Kader, Raju, Panna, Sagor, Rafin and Mefta. Five of the charge sheeted accused are in Khulna district jail while the five others are still at large. According to the charge-sheet submitted to court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) by investigation officer (IO) of the case SI Md Habibullah of Khulna Sadar PS, Milon, a student of first year honours class at Haji Malek Degree College in the city was abducted on May 4, last year for protesting teasing of his school going sister. He was stabbed to death on the same night by abductors. On the following day, Babul Sheikh, uncle of the deceased, lodged an FIR with Khulna Sadar police station as complainant naming 10 people and nine unnamed others as accused of the murder. Bangladesh Human Rights Enforcement Association is providing legal aid to the complainant for conducting the case, said the IO of the case.
