Youth abducted for ransom in Tangail rescued, 2 held
Satkhira schoolgirl still untraced
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) here rescued an abducted youth and arrested two people in this connection early yesterday.
The arrestees are Jasim Uddin, 20, of Chhabbisha village and Hridoy Hasan, 20, of Chukainagar village in Bhuapur upazila.
Rab sources said the arrestees abducted Murad Talukder, 18, of Bhaowal village in Kalihati upazila from Tangail new bus terminal area on Monday and took him to a residential hotel at Ullapara in Sirajganj by a microbus.
The next day, they took Murad to Bogra, called his relatives by mobile phone and demanded Tk 3 lakh as ransom.
Murad's family members informed the matter to Crime Prevention Company-3 of Rab-12.
A Rab team led by its squad commander Mizanur Rahman rescued Murad and arrested two youths along with a dagger when they were receiving the ransom money from the victim's uncle Hazrat Ali at Banani intersection of Bogra town.
In Satkhira, a 13-year-old schoolgirl was abducted by criminals at village Subhradakati in Assassuni upazila on Sunday night.
Quoting the relatives of the victim, police said that accused Hafizul Islam, son of Sabur Dhali of village Loka in Koira upazila in Khulna district used to stalk the girl of class nine on her way to school, reports our correspondent.
Failing to resist the stalker, the guardians of the girl were trying for her admission to another school.
On Sunday night, when the girl came out of her room to respond to the call of nature, the accused allegedly abducted her at about 10pm.
A case was filed with Assassuni PS accusing six people including Hafizul Islam.
