27 cocktails seized in C'nawabganj
Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) recovered 27 live cocktails from a wheat field at Teroroshia village in Sadar upazila of the district on Monday.
On a secret information, a team of Rab-5 Rajshahi, went to Teroroshia village at around 11:50am and recovered the cocktails in an abandoned condition, said Golam Mortuza, officer in-charge of Sadar police station.
In Dinajpur, Rab arrested an alleged arms smuggler along with a pistol, eight bullets and two magazines near the border in Hakimpur upazila on Monday night.
The arrestee was Md. Mahmudul Islam, 38, son of Abdul Hamid of Bisapara under Hakimpur upazila.
Acting on a tip-off, a Rab team of Joypurhat conducted the raid at Nawpara village under the upazila in the evening and arrested Md. Mahmudul Islam with the arms and ammunition.
Major AZM Shakib Siddiqui, camp commander of Joypurhat Rab said they recovered the arm and ammunition while the arrestee was selling the arms.
The buyers managed to flee the scene sensing presence of Rab members, he said.
