Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested four outlaws early yesterday and recovered firearms, bombs and ammunitions from their possession in Meherpur. According to an official of the elite force, a joint team led by Lieutenant Sazzad Raihan of Rab-6 raided a house at Chadpur village in Gangni upazila after midnight on Saturday and arrested four top cadres of outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (ML). The arrestees were identified as Hasan Ali, 25, Sabuj Ali, 22, Yadul Islam, 22 and Nuhu Mia, 24. Rab recovered two LGs, two bullets, four bombs and two swords from the spot. Gangni police said all the accused are involved in various crimes. At the time of the raid, around 13/14 criminals were trying to realise illegal toll from brick kiln owners Thandu and Enamul of the village, reports UNB. Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the gang hurled bombs at the team leaving SI Tipu Sultan injured. Later, after a hot chase, they arrested four of the criminals while others managed to flee the scene. Police said gang leader Hasan was wanted in a number of extortion and robbery cases.
