Grabbed land of a school recovered after 38 years

Grabbed land of a primary school in Pulhat area of Sadar upazila has been recovered after long 38 years. Locals said, a mobile court led by Md Abdur Rahman, assistant commissioner (Land), also an executive magistrate, in a drive at around 11.00am yesterday demolished at least 13 shops on the land. Sources said, a few influential people of the area occupied at least 14 decimal land of the playground of Pulhat Government Primary School in 1974 and since then they continued their businesses there. Expressing satisfaction, Md Zakir Hossain, headmaster of the school, said that the grabbers built several structures on the land, creating various problems to the students. Earlier, the school took various steps to remove the encroachers, but to no effect, he said. On February 4, local lawmaker Iqbalur Rahim visited the school. Teachers and students urged him to remove the illegal structures on the land, said school sources. There are 240 students of the school built on 44 decimal of land.
