Bank official, schoolgirl, 2 others commit 'suicide'
An officer of Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) allegedly committed suicide at his residence at Kazipara in Puraton Kasba area of Jessore town yesterday.
The deceased, Mohammad Ali, 50, is son of Rafiqullah of the area.
Police quoting locals said, Mohammad Ali was suffering from various diseases for a long time. At one stage he became frustrated and committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of a room of his house at dead of night.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to local hospital for autopsy.
In Magura, a female high school student and a youth allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in Sadar upazila on Sunday night.
Police said Rumee Begum, 15, a class ten student of Shibrampur High School, killed herself by hanging from the ceiling of her house at Atharokhada village.
Police quoting family sources said, Rumee had an affair with one Jalaluddin of the same village.
As her family members came to know about it, they rebuked Rumee and refused to accept the relationship, prompting her to commit suicide.
In another incident, a drug addict allegedly committed suicide at Shahapara of the upazila after failing to collect money for buying drugs.
The deceased was identified as Ripon, 30, son of Abdul Khalek of the area.
Two UD cases were filed with Magura police station.
In Satkhira, an old woman allegedly committed suicide at Kashibati village in Kaliganj upazila yesterday, reports our correspondent.
The victim was identified as Goljan Bibi, 85 wife of late Hazrat Ali of the village.
Quoting local people police said, Goljan took her life by hanging herself from the beam of a verandah at her house at about 5:00 am.
She committed suicide following a family feud, victim's relatives told police.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Satkhira hospital morgue for postmortem.
