Shibir withdraws strike at Sust
Islami Chhatra Shibir activists withdrew their strike on Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) campus after a fruitful meeting with the university authorities on Saturday night.
Registrar Ishfaqul Hossain said the university buses plied yesterday without police protection, as things were resolved at a meeting between the Shibir leaders and the special committee headed by Prof Anwarul Islam.
The campus went troubled after clashes between the Shibir and Bangladesh Chhatra League activists after the Shibir men were driven out from the campus on January 11.
Ousted Shibir activists pressed an indefinite strike from January 15 demanding withdrawal of cases filed against them for vandalism on the campus. The examinations of the university remained suspended till January 26 following the strike.
