'Screening can cut cancer deaths'

Staff Correspondent
Saying regular screening can halve cancer deaths, experts called upon the government yesterday to arrange it at district and upazila level across the country. They were speaking at a programme organised on the occasion of the World Cancer Day at Bangladesh National Museum for its employees by Centre for Cancer Prevention and Research, a non-profit voluntary organisation. Dr Habibullah Talukder, associate prof and head of the cancer epidemiology at National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital presented, the keynote paper at the seminar. After the discussion, about 20 women were screened for breast cancer. Cancer screening means looking for cancer before a person has any symptoms, says a CCPR press release.
