Save young doctor's life

Staff Correspondent

The spirited youth had prepared himself to serve humanity through making use of medical qualifications. But fate had willed otherwise. Dr Rashed-uz-Zaman, a lecturer of Biochemistry in Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College, is now struggling with severe grade 2 esophageal varix, which has necessitated a quick liver transplant at Apollo Hospitals in Delhi. That has, however, run into a huge problem. The young doctor must cough up Tk 70 lakh for the transplant to be done. An ironic twist of fate has brought a bright young individual to this pass. A little help from those who care will give him a fresh lease of life and a new hold on the future. His family and friends are now constrained to seek financial support from well-off and generous people in the country. Rashed-uz-Zaman, a bright organiser, is president of Prothom Alo Bandhu Sabha of Barisal branch. Please send your cheque to: Bank: Dutch Bangla Bank Limited, A/C No: 127 101 10343, cell: 01199-068464.
