Train doctors at upazila level: Minister
Health Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haque yesterday urged Bangladesh Gastroenterology Society (BGS) to train upazila level doctors to provide better treatment to the poor patients in rural areas.
He made the call while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 19th Annual Convention and Scientific Seminar, as chief guest, organised by BGS at a city hotel.
He said, “To ensure proper treatment of the digestive system of the rural people, doctors of upazila level and community clinics should get proper training on gastroenterology.”
“Government wants to make the Dhaka Medical College as a university with all modern equipment.”
He added the government has already approved establishment of the "National Institute of Digestive Diseases, Research and Hospital (NIDDR&H)" project at the national level.
State minister, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Dr Captain (retd) Mozibur Rahman Fakir, secretary, Health and Population Affairs of Bangladesh Awami League Dr Badiuzzaman Bhuiyan Dablu, senior secretary of Health Ministry Md Humayun Kabir, vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Prof Pran Gopal Datta and president of BGS and Bangladesh Medical Association Prof Mahmud Hasan also spoke on the occasion.
