Kidnapped man rescued
Three arrested
A kidnapped young man was rescued while his three alleged kidnappers were arrested from an abandoned brick kiln in Rajbari district on Thursday.
The arrested are Harun-ur-Rashid, Rokibul Islam and Kamal Hossain, residents of Dry Ice Factory area of the district.
The rescued man, Amzad Hossain, 25, son of Lal Mohammad of Joyrampur village in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia district, said he was kidnapped during a visit to an acquaintance, Jafar Hossain, a resident of Rajbari town on January 30.
The three arrested persons attacked and subdued him while he and Jafar were visiting the town. The took him inside a makeshift house near the brick kiln of Raja Mia of Baro Laxmipur area, tied up his hands and feet and gagged him, said Amzad.
They beat Amzad from time to time and called up his family to demand Tk 4 lakh as ransom, said Amzad's brother, Siddikur Rahman.
After being informed by the family, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) men traced the mobile phone of the kidnappers and made the rescue and arrests, said Rajbari camp Rab-8 Deputy Director Mohammad Sirajul Islam.
