Women's Biswa Ijtema begins today

A two-day long Women's Biswa Ijtema, begins today at Moukhara in Baraigram upazila in the district. Women devotees from across the country have gathered at the Ijtema venue, some 20km east off the town, to seek divine blessings of Allah. Around 50,000 devotees from different countries, including India and Pakistan, are expected to attend the congregation organised by Sher Ali Shekh, a local AL leader. The Ijtema is being held for the sixth time since its inauguration. It will end through the concluding prayer tomorrow. Sources said, around 50 police, including 30 women police, will be deployed to maintain law and order. Fire service vehicles and ambulances have been kept for emergency purposes.
