Man murdered by stepson, youth by elder brothers
A man shot dead his step father for siding with his rivals in Sadar upazila yesterday.
Shafi Molla, 55, was shot by Abdul Kuddus Molla, 25, at Shiloi village around 10:00am following a quarrel with him, Abul Bashar, officer in-charge of Sadar police station said.
Earlier, a clash took place in the morning when their rival Bepari group went for fishing in a disputed pond and Kuddus Mollah and his people resisted them.
At least 10 people were injured and five houses were vandalised during the clash.
Quoting locals, police said Abdul Kuddus shot his father when he supported Bepari group, leaving him dead on the spot.
Police could not arrest Kuddus as he went into hiding soon after the incident.
FRATRICIDE
In Lalmonirhat, a man was beaten to death by two elder brothers at Vadai village in Aditmari upazila Wednesday morning.
The victim was identified as Rafiqul Islam,33, son of Shamsul Islam of the village, reports our correspondent.
Quoting local people, OC of Aditmari PS Mahfuzur Rahman said Rafiqul was beaten mercilessly by his brothers Shofiqul Islam and Sobuj Miah and their family members over a piece of disputed land beside the homestead.
Critically injured Rafiqul Islam was rushed to Aditmari upazila health complex and later referred to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital where he died at around 1:30 pm.
The two accused went into hiding soon after the incident.
