Schoolgirl rescued, 3 held
College girl gangraped
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Sunday night rescued a schoolgirl from Bhatoi Bazaar under Shailkupa upazila and arrested three people in this connection.
The arrestees are Eliyas Hossain, 45, son of Bholai Chowdhury of Bhatpara village under Kaligonj upazila, Motiar Hossain, 38, son of Hanif Biswas of Bhatoi village under Shailkupa upazila and Mortuza Hossain, 23, son of Abdul Mojid of the same village.
They allegedly abducted the 7-year-old schoolgirl of a resident of Dudshar village under Shailkupa upazila. The victim is a student of class two at a primary school.
According to the mother of the girl, the accused lured the minor girl with sweets at a religious meeting at the village. Finding her nowhere they informed Rab and the elite force rescued her daughter from Bhatoi bazaar.
In Bagerhat, a 22-year old college girl was gang raped at Chitalmari on Monday.
Police sent the victim to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for medical examination, Chitalmari police station officer in-charge (OC) Hasan Hafizur Rahman told our correspondent.
The rape victim has filed a case against three people under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, the OC said.
Police could not arrest any of the culprits so far. The victim passed HSC exam last year.
The victim told this correspondent that there was a longstanding dispute between her family and the accused over a piece of land.
Accused Obaidul Fakir used to stalk her on her way to college, she said.
"As I did not respond to the indecent proposals he along with his cousin Abu Bakar raped me," the victim said.
