No trace of college girl ten days into abduction

Police are yet to rescue a newly married college girl ten days into her abduction. The 18-year-old girl, a first year student of Jalal Uddin College at Kalapara town, was kidnapped by a gang when she was going to college on January 19. Father of the girl told this correspondent that his daughter was going to college at about 10am. When she reached Anantapara are a, a gang of 6/7, led by Shihab Uddin, son of Syed Ali Dalal of Kuakata, along with accomplices waylaid her in three motorbikes. They forcibly kidnapped the girl and left for an unknown destination, he said. He filed a case with Kalapara upazila judicial magistrate court on January 22 and the court asked the OC of Kalapara police station to file a regular case. The girl was married on November 28, only 21 days ahead of the abduction, family sources said. Earlier, Shihab gave threat to the girl and her family for turning down his proposal, they said. Contacted, Ishaq Ali, OC at Kalapara police station said police were trying their best to rescue the girl and arrest the culprits. All of them are on the run, he added. SARMINA MURDER CASE Meanwhile, the woman who was killed allegedly by her co-wife recently at Baragopaldee village under Dashmina upazila was identified as Sarmina, daughter of Mostafa Fakir of Bandabari village under Kotalipara upazila of Gopalgonj district. Police recovered the body of Sarmina from a crop field in the village on January 12. A police team from Dashmina police station, led by OC Habibur Rahman, arrested the alleged killer Khalilur Rahman from Dashmina launch terminal and co-wife Nazma of Kotalipara upazila on Saturday. Khalil gave confessional statement to the court on Sunday morning. Police sent both arrestees to the court at about 11am and sought remand for five days. However, the court issued two days remand for Nazma. According to the statements of the arrestees and police, Sarmina was working at a garment factory in Dhaka city. She had affair with another worker Omar Ali of Jobsen village under Agoiljhara upazila in Barisal district. Omar Ali married Nazma in Gopalgonj three years back. Later he married Sarmina privately and were living together in Dhaka. Khalilur Rahman, who worked with Omar Ali, informed the matter to Nazma. At a stage, Nazma planned to kill her co-wife Sarmina and hired Khalilur for Tk 20,000. As per the plan, Khalil brought Sarmina to Barisal from Dhaka in the name of sending her to husband's house at Agoiljhara on January 10 and killed her on the way to Dasmina and dumped the body in a crop field.
