<i>Vow to root out corruption</i>

At least 500 students including SSC examinees, their teachers and guardians of Swarupnagar Shaheed Mohor Ali High School in the town at a unique function yesterday vowed to root out corruption for ensuring overall development in the country. Sachetan Nagorik Committee and Youth Engagement and Support Group of Chapainawabganj unit of Transparency International, Bangladesh (TIB) organised the oath taking ceremony on the school premises as part of their campaign to create awareness about corruption among the students and teachers. Ruhul Amin, president of the managing committee of the school and chairman of Sadar upazila parishad, presided over the occasion. Speakers at the function urged the people of all sections, especially the youths and students, to come forward to root out corruption, which acts as a barrier to economic development and prosperity. Professor Md Tanbirul Alam, chairman of Rajshahi Education Board, chief guest at the function, administered the oath taking ceremony. Students at the function vowed not to get involved in corruption, also not to tolerate the ill practice. Earlier, similar programmes were organised at Alinagar High School on January 19 and Hasina Girls High School in town on January 24.
