5 arms recovered, 6 youths held
Law enforces have recovered five arms and arrested six youths for possessing those in four districts.
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested a Jubo League activist along with a revolver and six bullets from old bus stand area at Kanaikhali in Natore district town on Tuesday night.
The arrestee was identified as Afzal Hossain,27, of the area, reports our correspondent.
Rab-5 sources said, on secret information, they raided the area and arrested Afzal. He was later handed over to Sadar police.
Officer in-charge of Sadar PS Abulah Al Mamun said Afzal was wanted in several cases including in the Rasu murder case.
Rab-8 of Patuakhali camp on Tuesday arrested Golam Maula, 30, from the office of auto-rickshaw cooperatives at Hetalia Badghat on Patuakhali-Kuakata road in the municipality area and recovered a pistol and two bullets from him.
Maula was awarded life term imprisonment in a murder case recently but he was on the run, our correspondent reported quoting Rab officials.
Lieutenant Colonel Nuruzzaman, company commander for Rab-8 said, acting on a tip-off, a team arrested Golam Maula from Hetali Badghat area at about 12:30pm.
Our correspondent in Benapole, Jessore adds: Rab-6 members in a drive yesterday arrested a 'criminal' along with a 9mm pistol, a magazine, five bullets and two bombs.
Arrestee Azizur Rahman Sakib, 30, is son of late Abdul Gaffar of Barandipara in Jessore town.
Rab-6 said they raided the area around 3:00am and arrested Sakib along with the firearms.
On Monday night, police arrested another 'criminal' along with a loaded pistol and magazine at C&B Colony near Karbala road in the town.
Arrestee Al Amin, 25, is son of Nawab Ali of Karbala of the town.
Police said Al Amin is one of the listed criminals and accused in several cases including for robbery and extortion.
In Gaibandha, Rab arrested two people along with a revolver and five bullets at Daslal village in Gobindaganj upazila on Sunday night.
The arrestees are Bulu Mia, 28, and Sanaullah, 30, of the village, reports UNB.
According to Rab, on a secret information, a team of Rab conducted a drive at 11:00pm and held the duo along with the firearm and bullets.
The arrestees were handed over to Gobindaganj PS on Monday.
