Earlier, five members, including the joint secretary of the newly formed Pabna district unit BNP, resigned from their posts yesterday. They are Md Sabir Hossain Bachchu, joint secretary, Mahfuzur Rahman Chowdhury, co-operative secretary, Rafiqul Islam Rafique, assistant publicity secretary, Moni Talukder and Habibur Rahman Nannu, members of the newly formed 172-strong unit. We are unable to perform our duty in the committee. So we have decided to quit the posts, they stated in a letter submitted to the district unit BNP president and secretary yesterday. Asked about the reason for resignation, Sabir Hossain Bachchu said, "We want to free us from this internal feud". However, district unit BNP secretary Habibur Rahman Tota said, "This is their personal matter. They might have been angered by something, so they have decided to leave the posts". "I hope they will change their mind and we will again work together", he said. Earlier thousands of rival BNP leaders and activists brought out a huge procession from the Pabna town hall premise and paraded the main streets of the district headquarters.
