NGO official abducted, 4 arrested
Police arrested four people from Ullahpara upazila early yesterday on charge of abducting an NGO official.
The arrestees include Hamsur Rahman, Ripon Samela Khatun and Nargis Begum of the upazila.
Md Najmul Hossain, sub-inspector of Ataikula Police Station, said Md Monirul Islam, a field officer of Pabna Protishruti, was abducted from the upazila on January 19.
The kidnappers then demanded Tk 20 lakh as ransom from the family members of the victim.
Later, a team of police conducted a drive at Chak Pangashi village and arrested the four kidnappers from the spot, but they could not rescue the victim till filing of this report at 6:00pm yesterday, the SI added.
