Two separate cases have been filed with Ishwardi police station -- one for murder and the other for arson attack, following the murder of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activist Mostafa Kamal Shanto and consequent setting fire to the houses of five Jubo League men. Shanto was killed as alleged Jubo League activists hacked him at Madrasa More of Ishwardi Hospital Road on Saturday, as a sequel to feud between BCL and Jubo League. Agitated BCL men set fire to the residences of five Jubo League activists on Saturday noon, blaming the latter for the murder. "Slain Shanto's father Md Abul Kalam Azad filed a murder case with Ishwardi police station on Saturday night accusing six Jubo League men. All the accused -- Ruhul Amin Kuddus, Rubel, Alamin, Wasin, Jibon and Nata Sohel, belong to Ishwardi upazila unit of Jubo League. Kuddus is the publicity secretary of Ishwardi municipality unit of Jubo League," Ishwardi police station officer in charge (OC) Kazi Haniful Islam said. Brother of affected Jubo League leader Ruhul Amin Kuddus filed another case against 36 ruling party men including BCL leaders and activists accusing them of arson attack, the OC said. “We are investigating the two cases. The criminals went into hiding after the incident as the police continued drives to nab them. All the accused in both the cases are ruling party men," he said.
